

Firefighters respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All firefighters participate in the Justice Institute NFPA Interior Firefighter program as per the BC Playbook and are certified to the EMA First Responder level. All roads on the west side of Interstate 5, west to the railroad tracks and on the north side of Shasta Dam Boulevard north to Old Oregon trail.

Volunteer firefighters are directly responsible for fire and rescue operations, including incident response and the operation of all apparatus and equipment. In 2022 we responded to 176 callouts.Įmergency services are provided by volunteer firefighters. The Fire Chief or Deputy Fire Chief also respond to complaints, ranging from burning complaints to reports of hazardous materials. The Halfmoon Bay Fire Department responds to emergency calls, ranging from structure fires to grass fires, from rescues and auto extrication to backup for the emergency health services. The Fire Department operates under the direction of the Fire Chief or Deputy Fire Chief who are responsible to the Sunshine Coast Regional District. Fire protection, rescue and emergency medical services, Public fire and life safety education, fire inspections, training and administration are provided. Our mission is to serve the community of Halfmoon Bay by protecting life, property and the environment. The department has 20 volunteer firefighters, 5 volunteer Officers and 2 career Chief Officers. A reminder to always be responsible with campfires and fully extinguish them when you’re done. The return of seasonal weather and recent rainfall have eased fire risk conditions. These prohibitions will include all Coastal Fire Centre zones following Forest District boundaries (Resourced Districts) the with the exception of the Haida Gwaii Forest District.įriday, November 4, 2022: Campfires and open burning are once again PERMITTED in the Halfmoon Bay Fire Protection District. The Coastal Fire Centre will continue to evaluate the need for further prohibitions and restrictions but with the current forecast, we are likely still a few weeks away from considering a Category 1 campfire prohibition.
